Exiles arrived at Walden with only 13 players and were up against it from the start as Walden had 14. Walden used their advantage and scored a try early on with Sam Herridge having to go off with a reoccurrence of a rib injury trying to prevent the score. Instead of Walden offering to even up the sides they decided to drop one player to remain with a man advantage. This along with some poor defence allowed Walden to run in another 3 tries.
Half time Walden 20 Exiles 0
After a rallying team talk at half time, the Exiles came out a changed team with everyone tackling hard and giving 100%. This led to Walden getting frustrated and giving away a succession of penalties. The Exiles scored 3 similar tries in which quick thinking from Lisher taking tap penalties and good running lines ending in tries from Gregg, Mills and Ryan. The Exiles were awarded a penalty try after another penalty resulted in a Walden player throwing the ball away.
The Exiles lost their skipper Cox in the second half and were always playing against an extra man but excellent tackling from Mills, Woolfe and Gregg kept Walden down to two second half tries. Lisher converted 2 of the Exiles tries and MOM went to Woolfe.
